Genesis is a project which will terra form planets, so they can look like Earth. There have to be used a completely lifeless planet, but Alpha Ceti VI shows a faint sign of life. When Chekov and the captain on the spaceship USS Reliant investigates the planet, they find Khan - the gene made man from the 1990's, which James T. Kirk 15 years back isolated on the planet Alpha Ceti V - and it turns out, that the planet Alpha Ceti VI exploded years back and they therefore mistakenly took Alpha Ceti V for the other planet.
