Kira, who is acting captain while Sisko is gone away to Earth, is upset when admiral Ross informs her about the romulans plan setting up an office on the station. He starts her own private battle against that initiative with a blockade. On Earth Sisko continues find oneself - and he learns something about his mother but is also attacked by a fanatical bajoran.

Sisko meets Ezri, the new host to the Dax parasite, before he, her, Jake, and the father leaves for the planet Tyree to search for one of the mythical orbs of the prophets. On DS9 in memory of Jadzia, Bashir, O'Brien, Quark, and Worf, med whom they leave on a glorious mission.

In addition to stand up to the memories from her "previous life" Ezri Dax is also to endure the reactions of the outside world makes for her presence: Kira tries to be social, Sisko is happy having his old friend back, Quark flirts with her, and Worf who is mourning his dead wife, Jadzia, feels himself provoked by Ezri's presence and makes it clear, that he does not want to have anything to do with her. Another place on DS9 Garak collapses and is treated by Bashir.

Odo is lured to a secret meeting place where he finds himself face to face with the vorta Weyoun, acting leader in the Alpha Quadrant - he wishes to defect to the Federation. On DS9 O'Brien lacks swift delivery of spare parts and Nog is offering to help. However, his methods is a bit unusual...

Weyoun 6 dies and clone number 7 has already taken over. The Great Link that all shape shifters are a part of has a disease which they cannot cure. This is the first time we hear about it. The disease makes it more and more difficult to change shape each time.

Worf is surprised when he gets a visit from Kor ("Blood Oath" (39) and "The Sword of Kahless" (81)), an old klingon war hero. Kor admits, that his ambitions has given him many enemies and for that reason has not been given a big post as an officer. Worf promise to help, but it is not all that easy when general Martok hates him bitterly!

While a pipeline to the front is being build on the bare planet AR-558 Sisko finds some of the Federation's troops, who has been reduced heavily after their five month stay in the biggest dominion communication antenna in the sector. If they can figure out how it works Starfleet can tap the transmission of the Dominion.

The Siege of AR-558

Vedek Fala, a bajoran monk and Kira's old teacher, pays an unexpected visit. He gives Kira a crystal, which transport her to Empok Nor ("Empok Nor" (122) and "The Magnificent Ferengi" (134)) where she to her horror encounters her old enemy, the cardassian gul Dukat, who now leads the sect worshipping the evil banished gods: The Pah-Wraiths.

Dukat gets in contact with the Pah-Wraiths in the episode "Tears of the Prophets" (Part 1) (150).

After having lost his leg in battle ("The Siege of AR-558" (158)) Nog returns to DS9 to recover. Family and friends is doing their best cheering him up, but he fights an emotional as well as a physical battle against himself. Up until he finds comfort in the holo suite with the Vic Fontaine programme as his new real world...

Rom is promoted to maintenance of first class. Vic Fontaine is a self aware programme introduced in the episode "His Way" (144).

Sisko becomes furious when he learns, that O'Brien is missing during a secret trip to an alien planet in his search for the widow to the crook Liam Bilby ("Honor Among Thieves" (139)). Cause Ezri's family owns a mine in the star system Sisko ask her for help in finding O'Brien.

The leader of the ferengies, Zek, disappeares during a business trip to the alternative universe ("Crossover" (43), "Through the Looking Glass" (65), "Shattered Mirror" (92) and "Resurrection" (132)). It turns out, that he has been taken prisoner by a group of villains, who will kill him if Quark cannot provide them a cloaking device.

A young lieutenant, Illario, is found dead in her quarters. An investigation uncovers, that he has been shot with a TR-116 rifle - a weapon that is not mass-produced by Starfleet. Meanwhile, Ezri is confronted with one of Dax's former hosts - a killer - who can help her in the investigation.

As Sisko disclose his piece of land on Bajor it is reported that Worf is missing in a violent battle against the Dominion. By strategic reasons the search is stopped, but Ezri who has distinct memories of Jadzia's life with Worf steals a small vessel to look for him herself. Dukat pays his old friend Dukat now the leader of Cardassia a visit to become bajoran!

Benjamin Sisko proposes to Kasidy Yates, but the prophets tell him it is not a good idea. The disease in The Great Link is kept a secret from Damar.

Bajor's spiritual leader, kai Winn, arrives at the station to "assist" Sisko with his wedding and Sisko tells her, that the prophets have told him that he in the near future will be subject to a big trial. But shortly after Winn also has a vision and very convenient Dukat arrives, now as a bajoran by the name of Anjohl Tennan. Far away Worf and Ezri are prisoners aboard a breen space ship ("Penumbra" (Part 1) (167)).

Benjamin Sisko and Kasidy Yates are getting married. Winn does not know, that she actually is contacted by the evil banished prophets, The Pah-Wraiths.

Worf and Ezri are beamed aboard a Jem'Hadar space ship, where the female shape shifter and Thot Gor, the respective leader of the new Dominion-Breen alliance, prepares to sign a treaty, that can destroy the Federation and end the war. But Damar feels as less being in his own world and makes a big decision. Winn thinks her situation through, when she learns that it was The Pah-Wraiths, who contacted her.

Breen has attacked Earth and the Federation releases a violent attack in the Chin'toka system. Winn tries to read in the book no one are allowed to read and reveales Dukat and learns the truth about, that it was the evil prophets The Pah-Wraiths, she has worshipped! On Cardassia Damar fights close to a hopeless battle against the superior force.

USS Defiant NX7-4205 is destroyed in the attack. Kai Winn kills her waiter with a knife by impulsive.


The Changing Face of Evil (Part 4)

Egoistic klingon politic is the reason why Gowron, the leader of The High Council takes the command of Martok's troops. Eager for helping the cardassian Damar's rebel movement against the Dominion on Cardassia Sisko command Kira to disregard her hatred towards the cardassians and help them with combat techniques. Bashir learns that Odo who now also is infected by the disease amongst the shape shifters is the carrier of the disease.

Anjohl Tennan (Dukat) becomes blind trying to read in the forbidden book. Bashir learns, that Section 31 ("Inquisition" (142) and "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" (166)) is the creator of the disease ravaging among the shape shifters and made the unsuspectingly Odo to carrier of the disease.


When It Rains...

"Tacking into the Wind"

On Cardassia amongst Damar's rebel movement Odo is badly infected by the disease raging among the shape shifters. Kira has difficulty getting the cardassians to function as single individuals, and on DS9 Worf challenges the klingon leader Gowron - one is not leaving alive.

The disease has progressed so much that Odo is dying in the sick bay. He is not long for this world and Bashir and O'Brien forms a plan luring Section 31 ("Inquisition" (142), "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" (166) and "When It Rains..." (171)) to the space station: They are to be forced to reveal the antidote.

On Bajor Winn and Anjohl Tennan (Dukat) are trying to unleash The Pah-Wraiths!

Damar is killed but his status as a legend gives the rebel movement additional strength. Kira, Odo, and Garak succeed taking the female shape shifter by surprise and by that end the war. After this people seek in new directions, while Benjamin Sisko does not have any choice.
