The Enterprise is caught in a minefield after unwittingly having wandered into romulan territory. Diplomacy and quick decisions has to be considered in a situation, where Romulus demands the Enterprise to leave their space on the double. This places Reed in danger while disarming a mine.

Captain Archer decides to send out a distress call of their needs of repairs on Enterprise ("Minefield" (29)). They receives coordinates to a repair station which shapes itself to fit the hull of Enterprise. The payment is pure and the repairs rapid done. A computer runs it all and there is not a soul. This makes Archer suspicious but it is Tucker and Reed, who do something to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Captajn Archer's puppy, Porthos, spends a night in sickbay after being infected with something and at the same time is very angry with the kreetassans, who he once again ("Silent Enemy" (12)) without knowing why has insulted and therefore has to apologize to - not at least to get the plasma injector they need.

The Enterprise pays a mining colony a visit to get supplies of deuterium. But on arrival they find some klingons, who forces the colonists to give all their deuterium to them. Archer has no doubt, who to take side with!

The pursuit of a fugitive takes captain Archer, Mayweather, and T'Pol to an arctic world. But the mission takes a deadly turn, when T'Pol gets flashbacks that suggest the events she remembers from a mission not accuratley relate to what happened.

A deadly neutronic storm approaches the Enterprise, so when it is impossible to escape, only one place can provide shelter: In the warp nacelles, and here the intire crew hide themselves. But then they discover some aliens trying to steal the Enterprise.

During a solo test mission on Shuttlepod One, Trip is attacked by an alien and forced to land on the night side of a moon. As he tries contacting the Enterprise, he discovers the alien to make an emergency landing nearby. It is time to act quickly as the moon's extremely hot sun rises.

The Enterprise visits a planet, where the Interspecies Medical Exchange Conference is being held. Doctor Phlox hopes to find a cure for T'Pol, who is seriously ill after mindmelting ("Fusion" (17)). He is though to be very discreet, as vulcans will for ever stigmatize her, if they learn, she has the disease. One of Phlox' wifes is visiting and her sexual advances towards Tucker is more, than he can handle...

A new conflict arises between the vulcans and the andorians, as they both claim a small planet. When the vulcans are willing to negotiate, Shran ("The Andorian Incident" (7), "Shadows of P'Jem" (15) and "Fusion" (17)) contacts captain Archer and asks him to be mediator in the conflict.

During the observation of a star going supernova the crew discover the vissians. They are a peaceful people who captain Archer becomes friends with. But he is opposed by Tucker, who has made that goal to interest himself in the third gender of the species called a 'cogenitor', who lives under miserable slave conditions.

On Earth an arctic research team discovers debris from an alien vessel containing two frozen, cybernetic bodies. As they are thaw a most dangerous situation arises! Enterprise is ordered to chase them through space...

The frozen aliens are borgs, who was shot down by USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E, when captain Picard from the 24th century followed them back in time just before Zefram Cochran broke the warp barrier (see the movie Star Trek: First Contact). In the last scene it is learned that the borg did made to transmit a signal to their own system in the Delta Quadrant. Captain Archer thinks it will make problems in the 24th Century - which it does (see Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Q Who" (42)).

While the Enterprise makes a survey of a nebula captain Archer learns, that his old rival, A.G. Robinson, from the old days of the NX test programme is dead. Archer thinks back to the events back then, where they both competed being the first one to break the warp 2 barrier.
