The Voyager receives a message from Earth send by Reginald Barclay

who tells the crew about a new plan, that can get them back to known

is unaware, that a double is impersonating him.

Experimenting with the Delta Flyer Seven of Nine, Harry Kim, and
the doctor are attacked by a race from the Delta Quadrant, who sees
"photonics", which the holografic doctor is made of, as deadly enemies.
The doctor seek refuge in Seven of Nine's borg implantations, where
he takes over her consciousness. In order not to be revealed he
has to convincingly behave like Seven of Nine.

Aboard the USS Voyager they receives a distress call from a hirogen
training facility only to find the holografic environment with scattered
corpses of hirogens laying about. The holografic technology given
to them by captain Janeway ("The Killing Game" (86/87)) is now altered,
so the prey has become the hunter. The holograms are aware of their
own existence and their fight to escape from their slavery among
organic beings, makes it difficult for the doctor to place his loyalty.

Having disabled the Voyager the holograms kidnap B'Elanna Torres
in order to extract her knowledge of holo technology. They start
repairing Voyager, and captain Janeway learns, that the doctor has
betrayed them. Soon B'Elanna is seriously in danger, when the hirogens
begin the hunt on their old prey: The holograms.

crew members from the past, present and future.

an ancient prophecy.

that is orbiting the planet, falls into the hands of the enemy.

keeps him as a virtual slave.
