About the character:
Jadzia Dax are two persons in one: Jadzia is the host and Dax is
the parasite also called a trill. The host and the trill function
as one while the personality is a combination of both beings. The
personality will therefore vary from host to host. Jadzia is Dax's
7th host. One is to be brilliantly intelligent and endure many tests
even to be considered to become host for a trill. Already as a child
she dreamt becomming a host though neither her parents or sister
is one.
She wins commendations in biology, zoology, astrophysics and
archaeology, but her training with Curzon, at that time the host
of Dax, is not going well according to him and therefor he will
not let her pass. The truth is that he is in love with her and is
ashamed it could happen. Jadzia starts searching for the meaning
of life and Curzon later regrets his decision and let her pass after
all.
Curzon was good friends with Benjamin
Sisko, who now is in command of the space station Deep Space
Nine, where also Jadzia Dax is stationed as second officer. She
is well-liked among colleagues and tremendous intelligent, and because
of that the young chief medical officer, Julian
Bashir, falls in love with her. She is though not herself interested
in a relationship, where she is not getting sufficient response.
That response she gets from the klingon Worf,
whose peoples rituals and customs interests her a lot. In the episode
"Looking for Par'mach in All the Wrong Places" (101) Worf declares
his love for her and in the episode "You are Cordially Invited..."
(131) they get married.
Jadzia is killed in the episode"Tears of the Prophets" (150)
by the former cardassian leader, gul Dukat,
and the trill Dax is transferred into the awaiting host, Ezri.
About the actor:
Terry Farrell is born in Iowa. Already at the age of 16 she signes
a contract with the prestigious model agency, "Elite",
and moves to the city New York. In the years to come her beauty
is used on many front pages, for instance "Vogue" and
"Mademoiselle".
But Terry Farrell is not only beautiful, she has also a talent
for acting and ambitious, as she is, she studies acting in New York
and Los Angeles. She gets a nice big part in the TV series "Paper
Dolls" and has also made guest appearances on hits TV series
like "The Cosby Show".
