weapons officer Pavel Andreievich Chekov
[Season 2 - 3]

About the character:
Pavel Andreievich Chekov is born in Russia in the year of 2245. Later on he gets rank as weapons officer aboard the USS Enterprise NCC-1701.

About the actor:
Walter Koenig is born on Manhattan, New York by russian jewish parents. Early in his youth he gains interests in acting and study the art at Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. With the degree as an actor he performs in New York, but also in cities as Los Angeles and Chicago.

From late 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s he is seen in guest appearances i various TV series, among them Gene Roddenberry's "The Lieutenant". The turning point in Walter Koenig's career is when he gets casted as the russian weapons officer from season 2 of "Star Trek" in 1967, likewise a TV series of Gene Roddenberry. He is the only actor in the series not to be on from the first season, but Gene Roddenberry needs to expand his universe to gain more contents in the stories. Walter Koenig plays Pavel Andreievich Chekov - that is, the middlename is not revealed until years after the production has ended - and he is the only russian aboard the USS Enterprise NCC-1701.

Walter Koenig differs from not being in "Star Trek" when it started and he differs once again, when "Star Trek: The Animated Series" aires in 1973. For medens hans kolleger lægger stemmer til deres egne roller i denne af fans ikke anerkendte Star Trek-serie, er det eneste, han rører ved serien, at skrive episoden "The Infinite Vulcan" (7). The reason, he is a victim of the budget on that production.

The final time Walter Koenig plays his character Pavel Chekov is in the 7th Star Trek movie, "Star Trek: Generations", which premieres the 18th of november 1994.

That Walter Koenig is a man of many talents is proven by writing scripts to several TV series, debuted as author in 1979 with "Chekov's Enterprise", in which he describes the making of the movie "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" and still performs on theatres around the USA. In the 1990s he has made guest appearances more than once in the popular TV series "Babylon 5", whose fans in 1997 selected as the best guest appearance.

Walter Koenig and his wife Judy Levitt lives in Los Angeles and they have two children.
